They’renot THAT uncommon, but not super-common either (I think they’re just not ‘fancy’ enough for the show ring). My first Cardi’s breeder had one who was nearly solid black except for a blaze on his head. He SHOULD have been named Skunk. :P
I love them, they’re my favorite color! It’s hard to find a ‘true black’ Crestie without any white markings. My own gal’s hair is black and white, but she doesn’t tan black like that pup — her skin becomes a dark brown.
Cait is right — for a long time, dark skin with light-colored hair was was the preferred style. That pup in the video with the ginger hair will probably end up going white; very few pups keep that color into adulthood.

The solid black ones look cleaner in my opinion. Sharper looking. TOo bad black doesn’t photograph well.
