Four juvenile Stimson pythons escaped their container that was placed aboard a plane flying from Alice Springs to Melbourne. When their container was found empty, two flights had to be canceled. The plane was searched high and low, but no pythons could be found. The plane was then fumigated.
But we have no idea where the snakes went other than they were off the plane when it landed.
These young snakes either escaped while the plane was on the ground in Alice Springs, which is in their native habitat of Australia’s arid center, or someone stole them or “liberated” them.
I assume they were destined for the Herp trade? Handsome pythons!
Either as pets or for small collections– I have yet to find the answer.
