The copy that you can get from these people has a 50 page introduction by Ray Comfort. Never mind that it is absolute piffle– Einstein a creationist? Give me a break!
You see, you don’t have to read the copy they give you. You can just skip the first 50 pages and read Mr.Darwin’s magnum opus. I guess these people didn’t think it through all the way.
BTW, Mr. Comfort is best known for his wonderful piece of evidence for creationism– the banana!
In case, you didn’t know, the banana’s characteristics are all the result of selective breeding as a domesticated plant species.
No one ever said these people were smart.
After all, they are giving away a copy of Charles Darwin’s Origin of Species, a text they oppose!

I’m in favor of you guys shooting yourselves in the foot by giving away an excellent book. You forgot that most people won’t read the poppycock introduction.
But I supposed you think bananas were created– which they were, by selective breeding!
Personally I think people will read an intro full of pictures and such, but that is irrelevent. A nonChristian can’t become more of a nonchristian, but they can become a Christian. So this book won’t make anybody not a believer, so the only thing it could do is help them become a Christian. And all true Christians remain Christian to the end.
1. I am a Christian. I’ve been confirmed in the United Methodist Church since I was 13. I went to the college that was affiliated with that church. I have studied the bible carefully with Methodist/Lutheran bible scholars, which was one of my major requirements. I don’t often write about religious issues, simply because those are not the purview of this blog.

4. Einstein was not a creationist. He was actually a pantheist, which means he definitely didn’t believe in the God that you do.
I’m in favor of you guys giving these things out. I am totally in favor of people reading Mr. Darwin’s wonderful theories. Mr. Comfort is easily– very easily– debunked.

I have to say I just disagree. I’d rather not believe Iron Age myths or social mores. Otherwise, we’d just stone all the loose women.
