   Once Miles married Daphne it wasn’t the same anymore. His goofy crush and her friendly obliviousness to it was one of my favorite parts of the show.

     Yes.

     Then it all became Frasier’s ennui.

     And that just wasn’t as interesting.

     Although I do like the episodes where Martin gives out good advice, and NO ONE follows it.

     So, all of them, then?

     My single favorite moment was from the show was in the episode where Frasier started dating a woman that looked exactly like his mother, and Niles & Martin were trying to figure out how to break it to him gently. It closed with a shot of the three of them silently watching old home movies of the entire family together in simpler times. It’s one of the few times I remember that sitcom pathos actually worked without being excessive or manipulative.

     On a sadder note, I remember reading that after the show started airing, animal shelters started filling up with JRTs surrendered by clueless owners who thought their dog would be just like Eddie. I always get nervous when particular dog breeds make it into popular culture without really showing the breed’s characteristics; at least ‘Marley & Me’ was largely about typical Lab craziness (and an owner who had no clue how to work with one).

       The ironic thing is my favorite episode is the one where they follow his advice.

   While I’ve not really watched the show and can only guess what’s going on (hopefully I’m not too naive in thinking that it’s about an impending date?), that is CLASSIC acting that I’m afraid is gone out of style or at least rarely seen today. No words, just body language and actions that tell the story. This man could have been a boon to the silent cinema!

     David Hyde Pierce is an excellent actor.

     He’s at Frasier’s apartment, which he’s using for a date.

     This scene has very little to do with the actual plot of the episode.

     It was just a teaser. I remember when it was shown when the show was in its regular season. It was touted as the funniest 5 minutes ever show on NBC. Pretty close, I think
