Miley and I went a long walk today. The temperature was perfect for a human.
But it was a bit hot for a young golden retriever who is still in her winter coat.
So she decided it was a good idea to cool off in a mud puddle. It may have been disgusting to us, but it absolutely wonderful for her. Look at the expression on her face!
This behavior is something one should consider before getting a golden retriever. They like getting very dirty. Usually, it is only to keep themselves cool, but I think they also like having mud on their fur.
Well, it’s either because they get too much attention when they go around and too many hands on them so it keeps people away OR it’s because they never have enough attention so they get dirty to have more hands on them !!!
(Sure it’s for cooling… just tried to figure a “golden way” to see it)

Our dogs love mud and rain and puddles. Any kind of precipitation, really. Maybe because it’s so rare here, it’s like a treat for them.

BTW, I know a lady about 60-year-old and she goes to spa to get a similar kind of mud bath (the prize is about 110 € / one hour!).
Ps. You seem to have green grass here & there! We still have piles of snow of variable sizes everywhere, no green nowhere. But I heard a robin singing SO wonderfully this morning (btw, called the “red-brest” in Finnish).
Our robin looks like what the English call a blackbird:

I have no idea what they are called in Finnish, but they are called blackbirds in English.
The blackbird is in Europe. The American robin is in America.
And they are equivalent to each other.
