I’ve just received word that I have received the honor of naming the new foal.
I am excited!
But because a horse can live 40 years or so, it’s got to be done right.
So I’m going to research names.
And I’m going to ask you for suggestions, so please leave your ideas in the comments.
Keep in mind:
1. He’s a boy!
2. He’s a Tennessee walking horse.
3. He’s going to be a trail horse.
Therefore, he needs a manly horse name.
His older brother–the sorrel pinto gelding– is named Joe. His mother’s name is Bobbi.
do we have a pedigree to work with?
Yes, but I don’t have a pedigree on hand.
I vote for ‘Bob.’

However, I like the name “Jackson” since Andrew Jackson and Tennessee kind of go together….
Davy for Davy Crockett…corny but could work
Booker – for Booker T. Jones who was born in Memphis

The song “Jackson” could be his song… I guess there is controversy about whether Johnny Cash’s song (written by someone else) was referring to Jackson, Tennessee or Jackson, Mississippi but that wouldn’t really matter…

How bout Benton, after Benton Mackaye, the ‘father’ of the Appalachian Trail?
Not sure how if this satisfies the manly quotient, but he looks like a Benton to me.
