I used to watch Alby on the Travel Channel. They just cut them into hour long episodes.
I got interesting in issues relating to developing countries largely from watching these shows.
Alby’s full name is Albertus Zwier Mangels, but I think Alby would be the perfect name for a dog, don’t you think?
Especially one with blondish hair.
Then, Retrieverman, I think you need to get a male Golden Retriever puppy and name him just that! I think Alby would be honored. Then, when your new puppy is chewing up something he shouldn’t be, you can scold him by saying, “Alby!!! Stop Mangling that!”….Thanks for this video(yes, I finally figured out how to view most of your videos!)–it was good to see the Albs again! I just read his biography(“Alby Mangels; Beyond World Safari”) available on Amazon(fairly reasonable price) and really enjoyed it. I had only seen a few sporadic episodes of his show, so I was confused by the chronology and characters that I saw in some, but not others–wanting to know what happened to them–the book filled me in on all that, and more! I was especially apalled however, at how, when he lost his shirt financially promoting some of his films, and the creditors auctioned off his home and all his stuff, how so many of his “fans” descended on his place like vultures and stripped it bare(even his dang toilet seat!)–with fans like that, who needs enemies? Wouldn’t it have been great if instead of squabbling over material stuff they didn’t need, they would have banded together, pooled their money and HELPED poor Alby out instead? No wonder he just “disapearred” from the public view like he did…..
He always seemed to keep himself grounded.
His films always have a bit of a social consciousness, and they are never demeaning towards the people in them.
I have been wanting to read that book.
