A reader has sent me these prints, which do look quite a bit like thylacine tracks.

Now, I am not an expert on Australian wildlife tracks. Mr. Harvey has not told me where these tracks were found.
I don’t know what these are, but they do look like thylacine tracks.
I’d like to know your opinion, but please be respectful in the comments section.

Are there any other prints? In order to measure the gait and then estimate the size of the animal and whether it was walking or running it would help to see where the other prints are in relation to one another and the distance apart, do they tend to overlap or do they maintain separation etc etc. I’m all for saying they may exist, but with nothing more than a few random prints…. which are easily faked, its difficult to really say yes indeed this is proof a thylacine is living.
We have plenty of footprints of mystical creatures, and prehistoric. Nothing alive and some of it more fiction than reality. Now if you said here’s a photo of a Thylacine taken yesterday in an unknown and undisclosed area, perhaps some footage…. I don’t think in today’s modern times anyone in their right mind would go against the public outcry for sanctuary and protection. But, that would actually means proving it in fact lives.
And somehow, I don’t think that’s happened with these pictures. Oh well.
there is about 50 prints all up , two track lines taken a few years apart one is all long pads they must over lap the front pads , but old timers have told me they get up on there back legs and jump like a roo but out of step ,looks like a strange dance . i have not seen this , but i have been very close to one it was about the size of the one in the old footage where it is being tease and it stands on its back legs . and if u look at some of the old footage u can even c long pug marks on the ground the colour is a bit different and it was a male , and the doyle footage from 1973 u can c long pads touch the ground u have to go frame by frame . the track line with the toes showing was chasing another animal i have both track lines on mini dv the gait i would say is very similar to the doyle vision i call that a gallop, cause the animal throws the sand -dirt in a pattern in front not many people would be awear of this unless u saw it first hand . i only release these prints to show there is a few left. and god willing one of my trail cams will get the pic
Ray Harvey, if you really believe that what you have here is a Thylacine, then you MUST contact a museum or parks or someone who can help validate their presence and if they really are there, who can set a conservation effort into action. If you haven’t already handed over what you’ve found to scientists, then it seems to me that your secrecy can only be because you are hoaxing, or because you somehow wish to profit from your discovery. The fact of the matter is that so many of our mammals now will not endure if simply left to themselves in the wild. Keeping wild areas wild and secret is no longer enough. Even in the vast tracts of wildlife reserves in the Top End mammals are declining at a frightening rate. Thylacines, if they still exist, would need a conservation effort greater than anything we have ever seen. And while I do not believe you have anything, if you do and you do not pass it up to people who have spent their lives learning how to conserve threatened species, then you are selfishly denying a species its one chance at endurance, and the world the chance to know that species.
hi chistie , 2 states national park groups were told both heavily baited with 1080 . longest peroids i have ever seen. vic qld , sa , museams were given copys of tracks. didnt wont to give a opinion , but dearly wanted the area where i got the prints . a secret group offer to removed some to a placed where no one can harm them. im siding with the later/ and if u want to look at other pic of trail cams aimals and things, u c i dont need to fake things. u find them on flickr put in (thylacine pad)
hi retriverman i releash 2 more prints of the thylacine, they are v shaped long toes look like claws.would u like to add them with the other 3. im sure u be glad u did.

Ray, are you saying that when you told the national parks, that they came out and heavily baited with poison? Like they wanted to kill the thylacines?
either that or they thought we were seeing wilds dogs, every time a big cat is seen in the blue mountains the stock squad, bait heavy with 1080 and if they get a puma they wont tell, doris of kangaroo valley had black cats 3 i think visit her farm .she had a tame koala in a tree nect to her house, these cats some-times take fruit from her trees, it is documented that big cats like a bit of fruit now and than. yound male pumas are blood suckers ,well they got that koala.then the stock squad baited for over 2 years straight. no more bit cat shightings there.if thylacines are found even on the mainland things will have to change.logging industry in tas ,i think is worth 1 billion a year.many eastern qoulls are dying now in tas they wonder why.could it be for this false fox program,going now leaving 1080 everywhere .thylacine if there are doomed quoll will die in large numbers. im not exaggerating, there is other ways to get foxs,1080 baiting has to be stop in tasmania before many of your beautiful creatures are gone. i should be in charge of foxs and finding thylacines, i seem to be getting things done and i have only a small budget.i can catch foxs by hand with a dog, have photos to prove it. all i can say i do not trust the national parks or the goverment.1080 in the colo nsw killed 50 of the goannas . i was studying them . i saw a ranger placed the baits along wheelbarrow ridge rd,he buried the baits in sandy areas and rake around so he could see tracks.large animals will run a long way before they drop. as i was camp near by i heard him pull up early nect morning . he put his gloves on , a large goanna was put in the back of his truck ,he rebaited . i was shocked . but not as shocked as i was at the end of the week .this baiting killed over 50 goannas in one week . i wonder why im worried to tell rangers anything.i do better research then the so call professionals. pics are on the way

First print is a fox print.
Second print appears as though someone has used their fist/hand to fake some of print. At any rate it looks nothing like a thylacine print.
Third has insufficient details to determine.
The reference for an actual thylacine print is B.Triggs.
Also, there is no evidence of ‘long pads’ touching the ground whilst walking or running – quoting the 1973 Doyle footage as a reference unfortunately doesn’t hold water – as A. its not clear enough to see. B. At the speed that animal is travelling it would be very unlikely that any back pad would be touching the ground. C. Its never been proven to be thylacine in the first place.
