This might be bad for your brain, but I’m telling you that this story put Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia, on the map.
Of course, it was also the site of the the battle during Lord Dunmore’s War in which Col. Andrew Lewis defeated the Mingo and Shawnee, forcing them to live across the Ohio. All West Virginians are taught that this is the first battle of the Revolution. It obviously was not, but we like to live in the fantasy.

I knew of a young man named Timmy that actually
caught the mothman and tore his wings off and
domesticated him. Eventually the wings grew back
and he drove Timmy to drinking and eventual death and
he has been tormenting me for years. Gramps has some
traps set to catch him and then punch him out.
