   Well if it crossed the road in front of me, I would probably say “Look at the coyote!”Which might just prove that we could have all sorts of wild canines running around loose and never know it because most people assume that if it looks like a coyote, it must be a coyote.

   But it does look a bit petite and fine boned. A red wolf would be heavier headed. Probably from somewhere else, unless it is a coyote. Beautiful and graceful canine, whatever you call it.

   Canis Adustus ,sorry I do not Know the english name, I apologise,anyway it is a souther african jackal species.

   I think it’s a side-striped jackal. They don’t really have an actual stripe on their sides, just sort of heavy sabling, so I don’t know how they got that name. I guess to differentiate them, in conversation, from the more common black-backed jackal.

    This photo was taken during the new moon – the time when there is a full moon during the day (it’s there if you look for it).

    I wanted to say Coyote at first because I’m used to trying to tell apart wolves and coyotes. But the eyes are way too dark… So, I’m going to go with Golden Jackal.
