The AKC has “beige” as a possible faulty color in the Newfoundland dog.

I would like to know what a beige dog of this breed might look like.
I have never seen a Newoundland of this color before.
It is possibly more proof that yellow existed within the St. John’s water dog and Newfoundland type of dogs from the beginning.

It’s actually a diluted brown or bronze Newfoundland– which means that it is like a Weimaraner, ash Chesapeake, or Silver Labrador:

I have an old magazine clipping with photo of one of the first “brown” AKC champion Newfs. The dog is not the overall uniform brown of a brown (“chocolate”) Labrador, but a very definitely shaded coloring, darkest on body, with much lighter shadings (as some Goldens have). This was probably back in the 1960s; I think the dog’s name was Ch. Seaward’s Brown Betty. Not sure if Seaward was the kennel name, but that comes to mind.
it would not be surprising if Newfs carried the e factor; and I have heard a Newf breeder mention the occasional occurence of “creams”….yellows?
Went and looked it up…the dog’s name was Can. Ch. Dryad’s Brown Betty, the owner was Seaward Kennels. Circa 1963 or 63. Both kennels were very well known names in American Newfoundland history. The coloring appears very much like that of a Leonberger, but with dark brown shadings instead of black.

Beige is the color from a dog displaying bronze & grey dilute, which becomes a silvery/beige color also known as lilac, lavender, champagne, etc. Depending on the breed of dog you are speaking of..newf really doesnt have a name for this color. A good example would be the silver color of a weimaraner. This beige color is newfs is very uncommon since both parents must have the bronze and grey (already an uncommon color) gene to create a silver pup.
