In a play fight:
The white boxer asks for it.
And you don’t think the golden is going to do anything.
Then it opens up a can on the boxer.
The golden uses its greater speed and agility to run circles around the boxer. And then runs into the trees where it can jump out out at the boxer as it runs by.
The golden has that typical golden demon play face, which makes every sortie and strafe that much more devastating.
In our group, Lexi and Buckley play like the Boxer… and the shibas like the retriever. Fun stuff.
My dogs do this everyday, it is their game. Some people misinterpret their antics and have told me how dangerous it can get. But the dogs know who ‘s the top dog and that’s not going to change anytime soon.
I saw (and heard) this on a regular basis when I had two standard poodles. The clacking together of teeth always kind of freaked me out, but I never saw any damage.

Obviously both dogs know the rules of the game, and are having a great time. Having two dogs like this is so much fun– for them and for us.
