Just as a random observation, we’ve been watching ‘Jeeves and Wooster’ episodes lately, and Wooster’s aunt has a Westie that they keep calling an ‘Aberdeen Terrier’. I was under the impression that was a Scottie? If it was supposed to be a Westie it’d be called a ‘Roseneath Terrier’ instead.
I haven’t read the original stories (which were written during the early 1900s, I believe), but I’m guessing that was the breed name used in the book, and the TV writers made a mistake with the breed? Or was there room for some overlap back then between the two? Some of the pictures of ‘White Scotties’ that I’ve seen from that era look a lot like Westies.
