     At least with persians, there are breeders trying to give the breed back its muzzle. “Traditional” or “doll face” persians. They’re not accepted by the show judges, but at least they’re being bred.

     I haven’t head of anyone trying to breed the muzzle back into pugs.

       The only thing I’ve heard of with pugs is the puggle, which is to cross a pug with a beagle and you get a pug with a muzzle.

   Sadly, i don’t think this is a freak pug. The Pug club of America’s “ideal” dog looks a lot like this. One would think they would have started pushing for a bit more muzzle with the knowledge we have now, but nope.
