I don’t know what the controversy is– unless you think it’s okay to celebrate dogs with health problems.
I think it’s very good at stopping the cognitive dissonance that you often hear from certain show people.

For the future of dog showing and dog breeding, would you rather have people like David Cavill speaking for you or a proactive Kennel Club that takes health and welfare very seriously?
After watching that first video it is obvious that the KC is going after the breed judges. This is why you don’t see a vet check before the show. Imagine, you get the “honor” of judging your breed at Crufts and put up what you think of as a good dog only to have it stripped by a KC vet!
By doing this they are sending a message to whole culture that is responsible for producing these dogs.
I see this also and have given much consideration why it is necessary to single out the breed judges. It seems it would be a great place to start here in the United States.
Crufts is the place to start a campaign like this It is the ultimate dog show in the world. You can bet that the Anglophiles that are the breed fanciers here in the US, the AKC, is watching with bated breath.
