Originally posted on It used to be that if you disagreed with another dog person’s practices or opinions, you would call them a ‘puppy mill.’ This did not mean that your opponent actually kept hundreds of dogs in squalid conditions just to sell puppies. It was an epithet, and not a very mature or descriptive one. (Personally, I prefer ‘moron’ for those who have proven themselves incapable of logical thought. Sometimes ‘indescribably moronic.’ That’s just me, though.)
The non-doggy public thinks that labeling anyone who doesn’t toe your line a ‘puppy mill’ is ridiculous and an easy and unimaginative insult. This is true.
Now, since the Crufts incident, I have noticed a new trend. Anyone who does not agree with certain dog people is now an Animal Rights Activist, a member of PeTA or HSUS,against ‘purebred dogs,’ wants people to only own mutts, or all of the above.
