   did you note the collar? I believe that wolf population to be one of the most studied. The music was so evocatively suited.

   One has to wonder, given the inherent problems that the Isle Royale wolves face, whether wolves from a healthier genepool would have written this moose and her calf off so quickly.

   It didn’t seem to me that the wolves were particularly interested in these two moose. They certainly did NOT “attack” them (as in an attempt to kill). Disappointing video. I doubt two wolves would take on a moose, unless it were very disabled.

     Wolves test ungulates all the time. They actually have a very low success rate when they hunt.

       yes I know that they have a higher fail rate than some other predators. However, this video didn’t even seem to show them doing any testing, just walking by. Usually with a test, they will see if they can start the animal running and usually the animal also responds (see the BBC verison http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmtktyguTWo&feature=relmfu) or better, the Nat Geo verison with a buffalo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CT_3QiWQh8M
