Wolves fishing for pink salmon in British Columbia

These are rainforest wolves from the Great Bear Rainforest in British Columbia.

Both bears and wolves eat salmon on their yearly runs.

And it’s also in this area where you can find “white” black bears.

I didn’t realize that the wolves also ate the spawning and spent salmon, but it makes perfect ecological sense.

I live on Vancouver island and at times you’ll even see a picked over salmon hanging from a tree hundreds of yards from a nearby lake as an eagle or other large bird has left it. The spent salmon not only feeds birds , bears and wolves but also are a major factor making the forests so lush by its nutrients well decaying. I’d also like to thank the site for its past post of the Newfoundland water dog , as my grandfather had capsized his boat in icy waters in the mid 70s and his dog Patty (Paddy) was most probably of that breed and accompanied him fishing in a small boat. He retrieved waterfowl which my grandfather shot from the boat. He loved the water and was a loyal companion for many years to my grandfather who lived at the tip of the Twillingate Islands.
