   Well Scottie, you did it again. One of your posts sent my admittedly strange brain off on a tangent. Upon seeing the photo, I immediately wondered, what percentage of coke users are white, what percentage black? I found the following quote; “…almost 2/3 of crack users in the US were white or Hispanic…”, on http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/drugs/buyers/socialhistory.html

   I can’t speak to its accuracy as statistics are notoriously tricky (as Mark Twain said “There are lies, damned lies and statistics.”), but if its anywhere close, it says a lot about the perceptual limbo in which our average citizen (especially the white demographic) resides. This same perceptual dichotomy exists in regards to the racial makeup of welfare recipients in the US.

     The best way to deal with racists is to ridicule their stupidity.

     When they realize that their BS is something you just laugh at, they shut up pretty fast.

       I suspect it’s more like behavior mod for cats than for dogs. Ridicule racists and they shut up when you are around. I suspect that their behavior goes unchanged when your not looking. I guess ridicule does make the kids embarrassed to be associated with their parents….and eventually they’ll die out. (My grampa used to say: “All the fools ain’t dead yet.” )

         Well, I’ve discovered that you can’t change the mind of well over 90 percent of racists.

         If they don’t engage in this BS when I’m around them, then I’ve won.

           True. It’s better to laugh at them than argue with them as at least they shut the hell up when in earshot. Argue with them and you turn that 90% into an even more entrenched 99%. If only ridicule worked on the extreme politically correct, but they’re so far up their own bumholes that whatever you do it just reinforces their self righteous worthier than thou yet more racist than they’ll ever have the self awareness to realise attitude.
