I am so friggin tired of winter!
Gorgeous!
With snow everywhere, it’s the worst March in Britain for over fifty years, but very pretty from this window overlooking the woods.
The statistics of the Finnish weather shows the same: the coldest and snowest March for 50 yrs. at least
It’s picturesque alright, but that wind will perish you to the marrow. It’s a two coat and thermal hat job. The dogs are loving the snow, but where the hell is spring? My poor daffodils don’t know what’s going on and it will be june before they flower at this rate.
Many of mine are blooming but they look pretty peaked.
5+” of fresh snow overnight and still falling. (Daffodils, what daffodils?)
You guys and galz need to make friends with winter and snow.
My kuvasz boy and I love snow. We spend hours hiking in snow and were hiking when outer fringes of Sandy hit us and also during the Edmonton Clipper that dumped about 15 inches of snow here (the very next day Nor’easter dumped up to 30 inches of snow in New England).
I always have my camera ready. I wish I could post some pictures here.
Now the snow is melting and we are left with muck. My boy comes back becoming what Scottie had once written about Miley, “a Siamese”.
We are missing our winter freeze and snow.
Btw, during a long hike yesterday, I noticed robins, blackbirds, common grackles, etc. are back and my wife’s daffodils are sprouting.
I had all the snow I wanted living in Chicago and WI, as well as when I was in the Urals. To me anymore its just a pain in the ass. (Thats what happens when ya get old.)
I love the snow – it was the wind that was smashing it horizontally into my face so hard it was stinging I wasn’t so keen on. It’s still quite a novelty in England as I think I went at least a decade without seeing a decent, if any, downfall up to the last 3 years. The TM thinks he’s in his motherland and spends most of his time either rolling in it or eating it. He must have eaten a gallon’s worth on Saturday. The good thing is it’s been so windy that it’s melted the snow away to nothing before it hit the slush stage.
Ooh I’d love to see him! Have you thought of opening one of the many free online photo sharing/storage accounts like Photobucket, Flickr etc… without having to give out too much private information or download anything to your computer. Or you can upload photos directly to places like Tinypic or Image Shack without an account, though it can get tedious if you want to keep track of them for later use.
Here’s one of the TM posted on Tinypic. I do have a Photobucket account knocking about, but I can’t remember my username right now as I haven’t accessed it since I rebuilt the computer last year. I’m hoping this will just be a link rather than posting the image into the blog as the beautiful Miley is of course the star of the show. (-:
OK so I hate wind too. Wind in winters of Ontario feels like you are being stung by thousands of bees on your face.
I didn’t want to do it on this blog site for it is meant to be Scottie’s and I really admire the magnitude of information and knowledge I get from here, but here is an article I wrote on Kuvasz dog breed from my personal experience. It has many pictures of K2.

What a fantastic article and thank you for sharing it. K2 (great name) is a wonderful looking dog and you can see how well put together he is in the photo of him on the woodland path. I’m 100% sure he understood you about the creek. I know with my TM that he’s not big on strict obedience, but he instinctively knows how to asses a situation/my tone of voice and make the right decision. The TM also knows what he can get away with, the crafty beggar!
Kuvaszok are extremely rare in the UK and there have been none registered for years. But none of the LGDs are common. Only the Pyrenean gets anywhere near 200 puppies a year being registered. The Anatolian, Maremma, TM and Estrela are all between low and mid double figures. It’s for the best really, unless you’re looking for a puppy.
Thank you for sharing this information from UK. I love LGDs and am glad to run into someone who owns it :-)
And btw, your TM looks awesome. He / she will certainly fetch over million dollar price tag in the fashion districts of China these days. But I believe, for at least you, he/she is priceless.
He’s not as exaggerated or as crossbred as the poor dogs traded as a symbol of conspicuous wealth. But I much prefer my Himalayan landrace mutt who looks like the Tibetan dogs you still see with the nomads and in ancient artwork. And you’re right – to me, he is far more valuable than mere money.
He’s beautiful! (I love big dogs!)
When Sandy had hit, it was night and I was all by myself. A black car saw us from the distance and came honking. It was police. They suggested I head home instead of walking along the forest cover. I told them this is my home. But you know what when K2 and I were alone, the wind was blowing and in the dark the leafless trees looked like ghosts trying to get me with their long hands and thin fingers. I found the origin of Big Foot, Yeti, Sasquatch, Indian Churail, or whatever.
