   Hoax or not, whoever wrote that is pretty sick.

   I do think people should be more careful on Halloween. Whether or not it’s a concerted effort like that image makes it appear, people do get the idea that Halloween is a day to injure or kill animals. Sometimes it’s little kids. Years ago, my parents’ cat showed up badly injured the day after Halloween. We discovered that a neighbor kid had seen or heard something similar to this, and got the idea to do it for himself. The cat survived, after over a month of treatment, and we’ve always been wary since then.

   I don’t know how common this actually is, but I don’t let my cat outside at all nowadays.

       Exactly my reaction. Whether it started as a hoax or not, there are enough simpletons out there in Webland that it could become a reality. Also some of them would undoubtedly get chewed on by a pissed off pittie or shot by an irate owner. Then the whole pittbull hullabaloo would be cranked up yet another notch.

   What is with people’s psycho obsession with claiming animals are going to be killed at Halloween? The black cat thing was NEVER true, and now they want to make up another ‘at risk’ animal out of the blue to that stupid urban myth?

       There have been some cases over the years of metal and such found in candy, but not as some ‘tradition of Halloween sadism’ like the media so liked to claim in the 1980s. The entire belief that more ‘evil killers are after your kids and pets’ than normal during Halloween is ridiculous paranoia.

   Hoax or not, these things happen, including razor blades, ground glass, etc. No harm in being cautious as well as watchful. Just because it hasn’t happened to you doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. “Be careful out there”

     An by far the most likely victims of this would be dogs owned by the killers themselves, trying to get attention, like children the victims of Munchausen by proxy syndrome.

       In my neighborhood, the story was about the dentist shooting up candies with laxatives. Don’t tell me that was a myth, too.

   Or razors in the apple. But the real hoax is that the treats are better In Beverly Hills. My daughter and her friends found out that the rich aren’t generous at all…Good political lesson to learn young says lefty me.

     Just like when people think charity shops in affluent areas are going to be overflowing with designer clothes and expensive stuff. Until they go and find it’s even cheaper, more worn out tatt than anywhere else.

   I knew it was a hoax for awhile,it may be good to keep your pet in,not just in the rare case that someone would do something to it,but that your dog would not harrass or bite trick or treaters.

   I find 4th of July much more worrying then Halloween. Countless animals run away then,and I’ve heard of actual cases of animal abuse happening.

     November the 5th here is notoriously bad for animal abuse. But that’s what happens when it’s traditional to put explosives in the hands of idiots. I had a group of teenage lads throw a “banger” firework at my dog while I was out walking her on a leash a few years ago. It’s not just the fear of the noise, but acts of deliberate cruelty to wildlife, pets and even children are sadly no hoax.

   THIS is a hoax, but people do sometimes kill animals on Halloween. There was a girl who used to come into my friends’ pet store looking for black kittens (Karen would often take in litters that local people didn’t want, and sell the kittens for a nominal fee). She was a friend of one of the store employees & was into the whole “goth” look, black clothes & makeup, etc, like a lot of kids were, so we didn’t think it was odd that she’s want to adopt black kittens. In fact we were glad, because often people would pass over the black kittens in favor of those more brightly marked. (I’ve never understood that. I love black cats.)
   Anyhow, that girl was arrested for some murders in Tennessee, along with some of her loser friends, and during the investigation of the murders it came to light that they were also involved in torturing and “sacrificing” animals, among them black kittens and a black puppy that she had adopted from the animal shelter.
