Miley treed a black squirrel (melanistic gray squirrel) today, but he was moving too fast from tree to tree for me to get a photo of him.

That’s a very good photo! I’ve read of mountain curs or feists who are bred to point squirrel but are there any show breeds who were once used for squirrils? Miley looks like she is really keen on squirril.
The big difference is those kind of dogs bark. She uses barking as her coyotes stay out of the yard sound and that’s it.
Dogs love to “tree” squirrels but fortunately the squirrels usually survive these encounters, in my experience anyway.
The reason she’s so keen on it is that she’s caught a few!
