My dad caught Miley playing with her new friend a few days ago.
This young deer is acting just like a young fawn playing with one its siblings!
Golden retrievers are such social and communicative animals that is really amazing what they can do.
These deer are heavily hunted, but they know they can’t be hunted in yards.
They also have to worry about coyote attacks, which means they are very sensitive about the whereabouts of all things canine.
But amazingly, Miley has broken down all that fear and made a new friend.
Of course, this was the dog that tried to make friends with a foal a few years ago, even though his mother was not amused.
She’s just a very intelligent, very sociable dog that does her best to communicate to all other beings.
Even deer!
And to think that she spent much of her puppyhood utterly frightened by these big antlered dogs.
Now, one has become her chasing partner!
That is too cute.
You’ve probably seen the tv film featuring animals making close relationships with other species, including us of course. They are really heartwarming to watch. Obviously just about everyone following your blog will be affectionately engaged with their dog(s) of course, but to see a cat and its ‘family’ of baby ducklings, for example, is just amazing. These relationships are all under some degree of human control, but there was one relationship filmed in the wilds of Brazil which really blew my mind, of a monkey which adopted a baby marmoset. Of course I suppose close related species or races probably don’t count so much, for example the occasional interbreeding of brown and polar bears or sika and red deer. (we now have a viable ongoing population of sika/red deer hybrids in the UK) Presumably wolf/dog offspring don’t count much at all since they are the same species, basically.
