Luckily the river Thames seldom freezes over completely. Cold weather brings out the locals with their bags of stale loaves to feed a wide variety of water fowl: mallards of course but also Canada geese, mute swans, coots, moorhens, grebes and a whole variety of refugee ducks from a Russian direction.
