No legs to speak of. I prefer a Basset with some leg. But I understand dog show culture has nabbed the breed, and they like to breed for a fantasy cooked up for the ring. *Sigh*
The sheath dragging the ground makes me cringe.
The thought that this breed is supposed to be able course rabbits all day makes me cringe. This dog couldn’t course his way across a suburban back yard.
They don’t really course. Bassets and beagles are rabbit flushers. And beagles aren’t really the dog to hire if you want to CATCH the rabbit. That’s because they are slow runners (comparatively) and they don’t do things like try to head the rabbit off (cottontails run in a circle, most dogs try to head them off!).
A beagle is basically a flushing spaniel bred out of foxhound stock.
She looks pregnant to me not that it’s much excuse.
Isn’t that rough on the, um, undercarriage?
