I don’t know if this is a screech owl or not, but it is pretty cool footage.
I am skeptical that this is a screech owl, but if it is, it is even more amazing.
Update: All of my sources show this to be a screech owl. Notice to sharp-shinned hawks: Beware the owls that screech!
i don’t think it’s a screech-owl, either –
i reared an orphan for release, and they’re far too small
to drag a sharp-shin along with a few wing-flutters.
besides that odd facial accent of a curved white-X is
not on a screech-owl’s disc face, and the ear-tufts are
too short; screech-owls have prominent tufts.
i think the owl is a short-eared – much more substantial.
plus the white-accent and wee tufts…
