In West Virginia, Hurricane Sandy brought us some snow. I know those people on the coast have had a much worse experience.
Snow is pretty benign when compared to sea flooding and high winds. Lots of people in West Virginia are without power right now. And the damage elsewhere is just now being tabulated.
But anyway, here are some photos of the snow:

Beautiful photos. Here we were extremely lucky as well lost of some trees but blessed compared to others.
The photos are just so beautiful. I love snow and the colorful leaves in the snow look very special too. And Miley is still too warm, she’s panting!
Sooo pretty! We are jealous down here in upstate South Carolina. Snow is my dogs & my absolute favorite thing ever.
I am in Southern Quebec. It was 70 degrees here yesterday. Weird…
It was gorgeous yesterday wasn’t it? Apart from the odd band of menacing clouds, it was hovering around 19°C in my area of Quebec. =]
Climate change is obviously a myth that was created to make you watch the Weather Channel and give Al Gore money :).
I love the snow! Those are some beautiful photos. I wish it would snow here and stop raining! =[
We had about 6 inches accumulation here in northern Pike County; the southern part of the county along the Virginia border got a foot or so. It was wet, heavy snow – good for making snowmen :-). Most of the snow has melted now; the temperature here stayed above freezing.
Hi Gang;
Sandy dropped at least 7″ of rain (my rain gauge tops out at 7″) here in the MD Piedmont. In addition, here’s a copy of the e-note I wrote up to allay the concerns of friends and kin:
“We got our power back at 12:30 P.M. today (Thus)–63.5. hrs after we lost it. No heat, no water, no lights for the best part of 3 days. Got down to 55F in the living room. But we’re doing okay and the inside temp is back up to 62F as I type this.
We had no major damage to our property but BGE seems to have copied a page from Pepco’s playbook. This was an unmitigated goat-rope, a fine display of what I call “creative milling” (an activity w/ all the appearance of getting something done but with nothing actually being accomplished.) I blame this fiasco on some creative management genius at BGE who has instituted a new crisis response plan that has all the crews “specialized”. Thus you get multiple crews coming out, viewing the damage (a large oak tree across the wires in this case) and proclaiming ‘Well we can’t do anything until the (fill-in-the-blank) team does so and so.” If they’d isolated some self-motivated iconoclasts, given each a multi-skilled team and and a bit of authority to rally resources, they could have quickly handled all these “small” out-lying jobs. (I know that this approach works because I was just such an iconclast during my last 10 years at work.) Anyway, we’re both ok.
BTW: We picked up the Samster’s ashes yesterday morning. I intend to spread them at all his “strategic ‘ locales but can’t bring myself to do so as yet.”
