Ovibos and Other Arctic Wildlife

The scene where the Arctic hares and ptarmigan are feeding among the musk oxen is excellent.

And yes, I’ve put several videos of wolves hunting Ovibos on here.

Baby Musk Oxen are one of the cutest animals on the planet, I have to say.

My GOODNESS, Musk Oxen are beautiful beasts. Absolutely stunning, especially in the scenes where their fur was blasted about by the snowy winds.

…and does anyone know if those piebald black splotches on the fur are a normal feature among far northern wolves? It looked very odd, I thought.

  These wolves have gray undercoats that sometimes show through their white fur. When they are juveniles (under two), they are entirely gray.
  
  Black wolves are born very dark black, but this color fades as the wolf gets older. Some former black wolves become a frosty gray color.

  Some Arctic wolves turn white earlier, but others stay gray until they are two or three.
